The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commended the elevation of former Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, and twelve others to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).
The National President of the union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, in a statement, said the union was delighted by the promotion of the distinguished crime buster to one of the highest ranks in the Nigeria Police Force.
The community leader, who is also a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, described the promotion as well deserved, noting that it would serve as motivation for Jimoh and other officers who have dedicated their lives to the protection of lives and property.
While wishing the newly promoted AIG a more successful and rewarding career, Abdulmalik said the union is particularly proud of Jimoh, noting that aside from being an indigene of Ilorin, he is also a proud product of one of the schools established by the IEDPU.
Similarly, the Chairman of the union’s Western Zone, Alhaji Dr. Musa Owonikoko Imoloba, described the elevation as remarkable and a clear recognition of AIG Jimoh’s dedication, professionalism and outstanding service to the nation.
“His commitment to maintaining law and order, as well as his exemplary leadership within the Nigeria Police Force, has continued to earn him respect and admiration from colleagues and the general public,” he said.
Imoloba noted that the promotion is not only a personal achievement but also a moment of pride for the Ilorin Emirate and the entire community, expressing confidence that Jimoh would continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline and service in his new role.
He also prayed that Almighty Allah grants him wisdom, strength and greater success as he assumes the higher responsibility in the service of the nation.
Also speaking, the founder of the IEDPU Eko-Akete Branch, Lagos Island, Alhaji (Mogaji) Abdulraheem Adeshina Ibrahim, said the remarkable achievements of AIG Jimoh during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Lagos would always be remembered by residents and visitors who carried out their businesses without harassment or intimidation from criminal elements.
According to him, “Robbery and other social vices were reduced to the barest minimum because many criminals fled Lagos State during his tenure as Commissioner of Police. The era of some trigger-happy policemen was also significantly curtailed.”
Mogaji Ibrahim expressed confidence that the new AIG would perform even beyond expectations in any office he may be deployed to.
It would be recalled that the Police Service Commission (PSC) recently approved the promotion of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, and 12 others to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).
