COMING SOON: Smart Water Kiosk for Akilo, Ifako – Agege Community

Lagos Water Corporation, in partnership with @wateraid , is installing an automated water kiosk as part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Akilo Micro Waterworks. When fully commissioned, the Akilo project is expected to supply safe water to over 100,000 people in Akilo and neighbouring communities .

The project is based on detailed baseline and household studies, so the kiosks and future connections are sited close to the homes and streets that need them most.

The kiosk will dispense treated water from the Akilo plant using a simple reloadable card – tap to start, tap to stop – so families only pay for what they use, with no guesswork and a clear record of every transaction.

This is one of several community water points being set up under the project, helping to reduce dependence on unsafe wells and high-cost vendors and making clean, affordable water easier to access for households in and around Akilo.
