The Lagos State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 52 suspected criminals for various offences committed across the state in the last one month.

The Command also recovered ten assorted stolen vehicles during operations carried out in November 2025.

Items recovered from the suspects include firearms, several rounds of ammunition, charms, and fake U.S. dollars amounting to $4,500.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed these during a press briefing on the Command’s activities over the past month. He said the vigilance, efficiency, and proactive strategies of officers have contributed significantly to the current calm and improved security in the state.

The CP assured both residents and visitors of their safety, adding that additional tactical units have been deployed statewide to counter any potential threats.

“Lagos is safe for everyone coming from across the world. Nobody should cancel their plans because of security concerns. We have made massive deployments across recreational centres, black spots, and major roads,” he said.

CP Jimoh also cautioned vehicle owners against leaving their car keys with car wash attendants, noting that many of the reported stolen vehicles were driven away by new drivers or car wash workers.

“Most of the vehicles stolen in Lagos are taken by newly employed drivers. We have also recorded cases where car wash attendants drive away customers’ vehicles. To intensify our efforts, we established three tactical teams, which led to the recovery of several vehicles on November 3rd. Owners must install tracking devices and avoid leaving original vehicle documents inside their cars,” he warned.

The Commissioner further disclosed the introduction of a new Coast Guard Force (CGF) to tackle marine- and coastal-related crimes. According to him, the CGF is positioned to secure waterways, coastal communities, and other strategic locations.

He added that the Command has also created a dedicated Anti-Car Theft Section, which has already recovered multiple vehicles showcased during the parade.

CP Jimoh revealed that additional tactical squads will be established across all 20 local government areas and the 35 local council development areas to further reinforce security operations.

“From September till date, there has been no significant security breach anywhere in Lagos. This is due to our daily show-of-force operations and convoy patrols,” he said, assuring residents of a peaceful Ember Months period and festive season.
