Prince Usman Hamzat Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development on Live Radio
The Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Abisogun Hamzat, has reassured residents and party leaders that his return to office will further consolidate the achievements recorded during his first tenure.
He noted that the projects executed across major sectors within the first 100 days of his second term reflect his administration’s continued commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy. Hamzat also thanked residents for their strong support and confidence in his leadership.
The chairman gave these assurances while featuring on the live radio programme GBAGEDE ORO on Rainbow 94.1FM, hosted by Opeyemi Makinde.
Hamzat, who serves as the Secretary of the Conference 57 Chairmen in Lagos State, attributed the successes being recorded across local councils to President Bola Tinubu’s political will in granting full financial autonomy to local governments.
He also appreciated Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for allowing local councils the freedom to govern effectively at the grassroots level, while upholding the financial independence granted by the President.
Acknowledging that councils now receive more funding than ever before, Hamzat pledged to remain guided by transparency, fairness, and the needs of the people in executing policies and programmes.
Speaking on the national economy, the chairman said President Tinubu’s economic reforms are a deliberate work in progress, stressing that correcting the missteps of past administrations will require patience and collective sacrifice.
On the security situation across the country, Prince Hamzat stated that although the military is making significant progress, sustained efforts are needed to fully restore peace and stability.
As part of activities marking his 100 days in office, Hamzat revealed that the council provided ₦100,000 each to ten small-scale business owners residing in Ifako-Ijaiye, in addition to offering monthly support slots for LASTMA officials working within the local government.
He also disclosed that public schools in the council were supplied with basic learning materials, including tables and chairs, at the commencement of the academic session.
According to him, while most of the roads in the area fall under the jurisdiction of both local and state governments, his administration has constructed strategically important roads and provided other critical infrastructure to improve the living condition of residents.
On healthcare delivery, the chairman emphasized that his administration prioritizes regular free medical outreach for residents, regardless of age, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
Hamzat, however, appealed to residents to take ownership of public infrastructure within their communities and to voluntarily pay their taxes and levies to support the council’s development agenda.
