PHOTO NEWS: Lagos Agric Commissioner Projects Future Billionaires from Agrithon 2025

The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, has expressed confidence that the state will, in the near future, produce a new generation of billionaires from its agricultural value chains.

Olusanya made this known during the Grand Finale of the 2025 Lagos Agrithon, held at Workforce, The Zone, Gbagada, where she interacted with journalists and young agripreneurs.

She noted that initiatives such as the Agrinnovation Club—formed in 2023—are already grooming young agricultural entrepreneurs who are transforming the state’s food systems and contributing to its economic growth.

According to her, over 1,000 business cases were submitted for this year’s Agrithon, with 36 finalists selected to receive funding from the ₦150 million Agrithon Fund and additional private-sector support.

Olusanya emphasized that the programme, a legacy of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, continues to inspire innovation, mentorship, and investment in the agricultural space, positioning Lagos as the nation’s hub for agribusiness excellence.
