ASCSN Lagos Branch Rejects Purported TUC Delegates Election, Calls for Redeployment of Abiodun Aladetan

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Lagos State Branch, has rejected the recent delegates election of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, describing it as a violation of constitutional provisions and electoral guidelines.

At a Special Emergency Delegates Conference held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Combo Hall 1 of the LTV 8 premises, Ikeja, members of the Lagos ASCSN passed key resolutions aimed at restoring order and integrity to the union’s activities.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the conference condemned the role of Comrade Abiodun Aladetan, a non-financial member, who was declared chairman in what it termed a “kangaroo election” conducted in breach of TUC guidelines. The delegates maintained that the development had brought “shame and embarrassment” to the union and, therefore, demanded Aladetan’s immediate redeployment from the Lagos branch.

The conference further resolved to distance itself from the purported TUC delegates election held on September 18, 2025, citing non-compliance with the constitution, rules, and electoral regulations.

As part of its resolutions, the conference unanimously endorsed Comrade Olusegun Rahmon Balogun as a qualified candidate for the TUC Chairmanship position, affirming that his candidature aligns with the association’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

The delegates also stressed the need for strict adherence to constitutional provisions in future elections, urging the national leadership of the union to take necessary action to implement the resolutions.

The communiqué was signed by Comrade Olusegun Balogun, Chairman of ASCSN Lagos State Branch; Comrade Jimoh Rotimi Monsuru, representative of the delegates; and Comrade Olusegun Kadiri, coordinator of the delegate conference.
