First-Class UNILAG Graduate, Imam Nojeem Jimoh, Elected National Leader of The Companion
The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has congratulated one of its distinguished members, Imam Nojeem Jimoh, on his election as the new National Amir (President) of The Companion, a leading network of Muslim professionals and businessmen in Nigeria.
Delegates confirmed Imam Jimoh’s emergence during the association’s three-day National Conference, which concluded on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at De-Peace Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.
In a congratulatory statement, UMA President, Dr. Mumini Alao, hailed Imam Jimoh as “a leader of integrity, wisdom, and service.”
Dr. Alao highlighted Jimoh’s remarkable contributions to the Muslim community both in Nigeria and abroad, noting: “He has served as former President of the Islamic Awareness Forum (London), Chief Imam of the Lighthouse Muslim Community in Lekki, and a member of the Da’wah Committee of the Lekki Central Mosque (LEMU).”
He further emphasized Jimoh’s leadership experience within The Companion, stating: “Before his election as National Amir, he served as the National Naibul-Amir. His wealth of experience will be invaluable in steering the association over the next two years.”
Beyond his religious and community roles, Dr. Alao also drew attention to Jimoh’s professional career: “He is a retired oil and gas executive, former Chief Operating Officer of Taurus Oil & Gas Ltd., and currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Housing Professionals Association.”
On his academic background, Dr. Alao described Imam Jimoh as “a proud First-Class graduate of Political Science (1986) and a Master’s degree holder (1988) from the University of Lagos. He is also the current Chairman of UMA’s Da’wah Committee, which is charged with educating alumni members and Muslims at large about the tenets of Islam.”
Concluding his statement, the UMA President praised the new Amir’s global impact: “Imam Nojeem Jimoh is a shining example of UNILAG’s enduring legacy in producing leaders who inspire change globally.”
