ENOUGH OF THE BLOODSHED – NIGERIA MUST ACT NOW TO END THE KILLINGS IN BENUE STATE

The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, joins millions of Nigerians in grief, outrage, and disbelief at the endless bloodshed that has, once again, turned Benue State into a killing field. The mindless slaughter of innocent men, women, and children is not just a tragedy for Benue – it is a stain on the soul of Nigeria, and a national shame that should shake every person of conscience to the core.

MPAC condemns, in the strongest and clearest terms, these barbaric and senseless acts. The sanctity of human life is a sacred trust – inviolable and non-negotiable. No community, no family, no individual should ever have to live under the constant shadow of violence, impunity, and abandonment. What is happening in Benue is not merely an assault on those killed or left to mourn their dead. It is an assault on our shared humanity, on our unity as a nation, and on our collective future.

We call on the Federal Government, the Government of Benue State, and all security agencies to rise beyond the empty cycle of condemnations and condolences. It is time for bold, coordinated, and intelligence-led action. Nigeria must not continue to be a country where human life is cheapened by repeated failures of governance and security. Enough of the rhetoric. The time for action is now.

MPAC also calls on religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, and all people of conscience to unite and act. Our silence, our indifference, only feeds this evil. The time for lamentation has long passed. What this moment demands is decisive, sincere, and sustained effort to end the carnage and secure justice for the victims.

We stand in solidarity with the government and good people of Benue State in this hour of pain. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. We ask Almighty God to grant peace to our land, heal our wounds, and guide our leaders towards justice, righteousness, and compassion.

Enough is enough. Nigeria must not stand idly by while the blood of the innocent flows. We demand action – immediate, effective, and enduring action – to end this nightmare and restore the dignity of our nation.

-End-
