LAGOS STATE DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGENCY TAKES SGBV ADVOCACY TO ANOINTED SOULS SCHOOL
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) organized a sensitization program for over 300 students of Anointed Souls School, Badore, Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government on the 22nd of November, 2024.
Mr. Akinde Olatosin, Community Engagement Officer, who represented the Executive Secretary of Lagos State DSVA Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, delivered a presentation on issues surrounding Sexual and the Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) where he elaborated on forms of abuse, consequences of abuse, and the roles of children in combating SGBV.
The program focused on handling domestic violence and sexual abuse while Key takeaways included embracing non-violence, education, and awareness, as well as reporting incidents to guardians, parents, counselors, or the Lagos State DSVA.
Olatosin also addressed common myths about Gender-Based Violence and emphasized the importance of breaking the silence surrounding these issues.
He encouraged participants to utilize the official toll-free line (08000-333-333) to report SGBV cases.
Community Engagement Officers, Ms. Adetoun Odumbo and Mr. Akinde Olatosin, facilitated a Q&A session, providing guidance and counseling to the students.
Pastor Olawale Julius, Youth Pastor of Mountain Of Fire Ministries Youth Church Region 82, Badore, Ajah expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its SGBV awareness initiatives in Anointed Souls and Eti-Osa local government. He confirmed the church’s willingness to collaborate with the Agency in combating SGBV.
Participants received educational resources and were urged to remember the lifesaving toll-free number (08000-333-333) for swift reporting and support.
