25 Nigerians Regain Sight Through Free Eye Surgeries by Inner Wheel and Rotary Districts

The latest beneficiaries of the free eye surgeries facilitated by Inner Wheel District 911, in collaboration with Rotary Districts 9111 and 9112, have expressed immense joy following the success of the initiative.

They showered praises on Inner Wheel District 911 and the Rotary Clubs of Agege and Agbara for covering all expenses associated with the surgeries. They also appealed to the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative, enabling it to reach even more people in need.

The 25 beneficiaries underwent surgeries at the Rotary D9110 Eye Hospital, Acemedicare Clinics, located on Ota-Idiroko Road, Ogun State. The procedures, carried out by a team of specialists, mainly addressed cataracts and pterygium. Remarkably, several patients who had been blind due to cataracts regained their sight after the surgeries.

Speaking on the program, the District Chairman of Inner Wheel 911, Mrs. Adenike Sodipo, reaffirmed their commitment to providing relief to vulnerable individuals.

She highlighted the increasing prevalence of eye defects and the prohibitive cost of corrective surgeries, which often places such care beyond the reach of many Nigerians.

During a visit to the hospital, the President of the Rotary Club of Agbara, Juliet Momoh, urged the beneficiaries to protect their eyes diligently and spread awareness about eye care in their communities.

She also cautioned against patronizing quacks or using local herbs for eye problems, emphasizing that hospitals remain the best place to seek solutions.
