NASFAT Celebrates Eid Mawlid 2026, Calls for National Unity and Peaceful Coexistence Ahead of the 2027 General Elections

The pace setting global Islamic society, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) joins Muslims across Nigeria and around the world in celebrating Eid Mawlid 2026, marking the birth and passing anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The holy occasion is expected to be observed from Tuesday, August 25, 2026, corresponding to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH, with prayers, reflection, and acts of charity taking place across communities.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on 12 Rabi al-Awwal in the year 570 AD and also passed away on the same date. His life remains a timeless example of compassion, justice, humility, and service to humanity. The celebration of Eid Mawlid offers Muslims an opportunity to reflect on his teachings and emulate his noble character in their daily lives.

A central feature of the Mawlid celebration is charity and kindness. Across the globe, Muslims commemorate the occasion by providing food, financial assistance, and other forms of support to the less privileged. While traditions and cultural expressions may differ from one region to another, the essence of the celebration remains the same—love for the Prophet, gratitude to Almighty Allah, and the strengthening of bonds that unite families, neighbours, and communities.

During Eid Mawlid, the atmosphere is often filled with the melodious recitation of Salawat, Dhikr, Qur’anic verses, and heartfelt prayers. These spiritual activities serve as expressions of devotion and love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), while also promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding among people of different backgrounds.

As Nigeria gradually enters the political season ahead of the 2027 General Elections, NASFAT urges citizens to embrace the lessons of peace, tolerance, and respect exemplified by the Holy Prophet. Political engagement is a vital component of democracy, but it must never become a source of hatred, division, or hostility among individuals and communities.

It is natural for people to support different candidates, belong to various political parties, and hold differing opinions on national issues. However, these differences should not undermine the friendships, family ties, and professional relationships that have been built over many years. Respectful disagreement is a hallmark of a mature and democratic society.

One of the unfortunate consequences of political rivalry is the breakdown of long-standing relationships. NASFAT therefore encourages Nigerians to distinguish between political preferences and personal relationships. Friends, relatives, neighbours, and colleagues are not required to share identical political views, and such differences should never be allowed to destroy mutual respect and goodwill.

Politics is temporary, but relationships are enduring. Election campaigns will come and go, and the intense emotions that accompany them will eventually fade. The people who have supported us through life’s challenges, however, often remain with us long after political contests have ended. Preserving these valuable relationships should be a priority for every citizen.

NASFAT calls on Nigerians to participate actively in democratic processes, advocate passionately for their convictions, and engage in constructive debates with civility and wisdom. At the same time, citizens must guard against allowing political disagreements to rob them of their peace of mind or damage the social fabric that binds communities together.

As we celebrate Eid Mawlid 2026, let us recommit ourselves to the values of love, compassion, understanding, and peaceful coexistence. Let us continue to build bridges across political, ethnic, and religious divides, fostering a nation where unity and mutual respect prevail despite our differences.
