Grace and Hope Foundation to Reach Out to Widows in Lagos Community
…Sets October 1 for empowerment, welfare outreach
The Grace and Hope Child Care Foundation has announced plans to reach out to widows and other vulnerable members of the community as part of its commitment to promoting social welfare, empowerment and community development.
The foundation said the outreach programme, scheduled for October 1, 2026, will hold at Ayetoro Primary School, Akoka, Lagos, with a focus on supporting widows and strengthening vulnerable families.
According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to provide practical support while creating opportunities for beneficiaries to improve their livelihoods and build more sustainable futures.
The programme, tagged “Outreach for Widows,” is anchored on the theme, “Sharing Hope, Nourishing Lives, Building Stronger Communities.”
The foundation identified education, empowerment, food support, care and welfare, and community outreach as key areas of intervention under the programme. It said the education component is intended to promote access to knowledge and opportunities, while the empowerment initiative will focus on skills that can enhance self-reliance among beneficiaries.
The food support component is aimed at addressing immediate nutritional needs, while the care and welfare segment will provide assistance to vulnerable groups. The community outreach aspect is expected to strengthen solidarity and encourage collective action in support of people facing difficult circumstances.
The initiative is being organised under the foundation’s broader vision of “Caring Today, Building a Brighter Tomorrow,” reflecting its stated commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable people and contributing to stronger communities.
The foundation also drew inspiration for the outreach from the biblical injunction in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.”
With the initiative, Grace and Hope Child Care Foundation said it seeks to reinforce the message that sustainable community development requires compassion, inclusion and practical support for people in vulnerable circumstances.
The foundation’s message for the programme is encapsulated in its vision: “People, Communities, Brighter Future,” with an emphasis on reaching people, touching lives, creating opportunities and building a brighter future.
