DR. BETTA EDU: THE GO-GETTER BEHIND WOMEN MOBILISATION

Dr. Betta Chimaobim Edu is a Nigerian medical doctor, public servant and political leader whose career has included work in healthcare, women’s mobilisation and public administration.
In August 2026, she was named Director of Women Mobilisation in the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election. The published campaign-council list identifies her as Director of Women Mobilisation, with deputies and a secretary serving alongside her.
The title “The Go-Getter” aptly captures the energetic style that has characterized much of Edu’s public career. Her earlier experience includes serving as Commissioner for Health in Cross River State and as National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress. Her professional background is rooted in medicine and health policy, while her political career has increasingly focused on women’s participation, empowerment and grassroots engagement.
As Director of Women Mobilisation, her current responsibility places her at the centre of efforts to engage women across Nigeria in the 2027 campaign. Recent reports have quoted her speaking about women’s mobilisation and political participation, including engagements in the South-East.
What makes Dr. Betta Edu particularly notable is the combination of medical training, political experience, grassroots engagement and an emphasis on women’s participation.
