The Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, on Tuesday received the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, during his visit to Darul-Irshad Wal Is’Ad of Nigeria in Sari-Iganmu, Orile, Apapa-Iganmu.
Hamzat was received by the council helmsman, members of his cabinet and prominent political leaders in the local government, who turned out to welcome the APC governorship candidate to the community.

Among those present were the member representing Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Musbau Aina Lawal, former member of the House of Representatives and Permanent Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Wale Babatunde Jimoh, APC House of Representatives candidate for Apapa Federal Constituency in the 2027 election, Hon. Muftau Egberoungbe and the immediate past Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Alhaja Funmilayo Akande Mohammed, among others.
While addressing the large gathering of students of the islamic school, muslim clerics and others at the occasion, Hamzat expressed appreciation to the people for their impressive turnout despite the short notice about the visit.
The Deputy Governor said politicians often make promises they cannot fulfil during election campaigns, stressing that he would not deceive the people with false promises.
Hamzat also highlighted his extensive experience in public administration, noting that he had been involved in the governance of Lagos State since the second term of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as governor.
He recalled some of his accomplishments while serving as Commissioner for Science and Technology and maintained that some of the challenges confronting the country were the result of past shortcomings in governance, which, according to him, Tinubu was working to correct.
โTinubu is trying, but a lot have gone wrong,โ Hamzat said, while urging state and local government officials to ensure that the benefits of economic reforms reach ordinary Nigerians.
He assured the people that his government would strive to ensure that what is due to every citizen gets to them, describing this as part of the vision for effective governance.
Hamzat further stressed the importance of experience in government, saying that effective administration requires people who understand the workings of government.
Earlier, the proprietor of Darul-Irshad Wal Is’Ad of Nigeria, Sheikh Saheed Olawunmi, described Hamzat as a humble man who possesses the fear of God.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by his running mate, Princess Damilola Senayon James; Director-General of the campaign committee, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and other members of his entourage.
The visit further underscored the role of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA and its leadership under Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu in providing a platform for engagement between political leaders, religious groups and residents ahead of the 2027 general election.
