A Special Merry Christmas to Nigeria: Tested, Thankful, Unbroken
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC extends warm Christmas greetings to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora, as the nation pauses to reflect, to give thanks, and to reaffirm faith in our collective destiny.
Christmas 2025 finds Nigeria standing-tested, pressured, yet unbroken.
The outgoing year was not without its challenges. It was a year of difficult but necessary transitions; a year that demanded sacrifice, resilience, and patience from citizens and leadership alike. Economic recalibration, security pressures, global headwinds, and inherited structural distortions combined to test the resolve of the nation. These realities were neither denied nor avoided by the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They were confronted head-on.
Yet, in the midst of these trials, something instructive occurred.
The loud predictions of doom failed spectacularly.
The opposition and their echo chambers-assisted by a motley alliance of political prophets, professional alarmists, and spiritual merchants of catastrophe-predicted famine, anarchy, state collapse, mass unrest, and foreign intervention. None came to pass. Their doomsday timelines expired one after the other, leaving only embarrassment in their wake.
Unable to manufacture reality, they resorted to professional universal demarketing of Nigeria-peddling exaggerated narratives, lobbying foreign audiences, distorting data, and deliberately undermining the sovereignty and image of their own country in a desperate bid to score political points. Never in our recent history has opposition politics sunk so low: rooting for national failure simply to validate partisan fantasies.
But Nigeria refused to break.
Our institutions held. Our democracy endured. Our economy showed early signs of stabilization and recovery. Security forces recorded strategic gains despite sabotage and misinformation. Nigerians adapted, endured, and moved forward with the quiet strength that has defined our history.
This Christmas therefore is not just a celebration of faith-it is a celebration of national resilience.
It is proof that Nigeria is stronger than its detractors, wiser than its pessimists, and far more enduring than the manufactured narratives of collapse sold daily by those who profit from despair.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains focused on the hard work of governance, not the noise of naysayers. Structural reforms are never painless, but nations that avoid them stagnate. Those that embrace them progress.
As Nigerians gather with family and loved ones this Christmas, we urge all citizens to reject cynicism, resist despair, and recommit to nation-building. Politics must never override patriotism. Opposition must never mutate into sabotage.
Nigeria stands-at Christmas and beyond.
May this season renew our collective hope, strengthen our unity, and remind us that no prophecy of doom fashioned against this nation shall stand.
Merry Christmas to Nigeria.
A stronger, greater Nigeria beckons.
