Photo News: Lagos Residents Flood Mile 12 Market for Last-Minute Shopping

Some residents of Lagos engaged in last-minute shopping at the Mile 12 International Market, located within Kosofe Local Government Area of the state.

The massive turnout resulted in a brief traffic logjam on both sides of Ikorodu Road around the market. However, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) deployed to the area were able to restore the free flow of traffic.

An official of the Mile 12 International Market, who was not authorised to speak, disclosed that the large turnout was expected due to the Yuletide season. He explained that the market has become the preferred choice for many Lagos residents because of the relatively cheaper prices of food items compared to other markets across the metropolis.

The market official also expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems for its year-round engagement and support to the market leadership, which has helped to ensure peaceful coexistence and the smooth conduct of activities.

The festive Detty December season provided an opportunity for traders to record brisk business at one of the largest markets in the West African sub-region.
