Abduction and Murder: Beninese Couple, Nigerian Accomplice Arrested Over Killing of TikTok Presenter in Lagos

By Raheem Ibrahim

A Beninese couple, Mr. and Mrs. Sunday Sojunu, alongside an alleged accomplice, Dare Samson, are currently in police custody at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, over the alleged abduction and murder of Ayoola Bello, a TikTok presenter based in Ogun State.

It was reliably gathered that the suspects were arrested by police detectives at their residence on Glory Street, Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.

Authoritative sources disclosed that the crime was allegedly carried out through a carefully planned scheme against the late TikTok presenter, who resided on Odolowa Street, Imodi area of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

According to the source, Sunday Sojunu (35), his wife Toyin Sojunu (31), and Dare Samson, said to be of no fixed address in Ikorodu, allegedly conspired and executed the crime. The location of the couple’s residence, an uncompleted building in a secluded area, reportedly aided the act.

Investigations revealed that Toyin Sojunu, a petty trader who later became a TikTok presenter, met the deceased online during her TikTok activities. Their online interaction reportedly developed into a friendship, leading to plans to meet in person.

On 15 September 2025, Toyin allegedly told her husband she was travelling to Cotonou, Benin Republic, but instead went to Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where she reportedly spent two days with the deceased at a local hotel.

Sources further claimed that shortly after, the couple allegedly fell ill and attributed their condition to Toyin’s infidelity. She was said to have confessed the affair to her husband, seeking forgiveness.

Thereafter, the husband allegedly pressured his wife to lure the deceased to their residence in Ikorodu. Unaware of any danger, the deceased reportedly travelled from Ijebu Ode to Ikorodu on 24 November 2025.

Investigators alleged that before the visit, Sunday Sojunu engaged Dare Samson, described as a suspected criminal, to assist in the act. The deceased was allegedly held captive, and a ransom of ₦200,000 was reportedly collected from his family.

The suspects allegedly lived alone in the uncompleted building, which investigators say gave them unrestricted access to their victim.

Further investigations by homicide detectives and the Police Forensic Crime Scene Unit at the State CID, Panti, recently strengthened under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood, led to breakthroughs in the case.

The deployment of forensic experts by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dayo Akinbisehin reportedly aided the recovery of the deceased’s remains from River Adamo in Ikorodu.

Weeks after the suspects allegedly believed evidence had been destroyed, the remains were recovered and deposited at a morgue, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted ahead of prosecution.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful, as calls to her phone were not answered at the time of filing this report.
