Photo News: UNILAG College of Medicine 1985 Alumni Commission Solar Power, Refurbished Female Hostel at 40th Anniversary Reunion


The President of the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba 1985 Set, Dr. Kofo Ogunyakin, led other members during the commissioning of a solar power system and the refurbished female hostel, Alliakilu Hall, at the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba. The projects formed part of activities marking the 40th anniversary reunion of the 1985 set of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, and the Provost of the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba, Prof. Ademola Oremosu, were on hand to receive members of the alumni.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor commended the alumni for giving back to the institution and decried the growing brain drain in the health sector, stressing the need for concerted efforts to confront the challenges.

She, however, noted that despite inadequate funding, the university has remained innovative, adding that the track record of the College of Medicine has largely contributed to the enviable ratings of the institution.

On his part, the Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Ademola Oremosu, said it was heartwarming that the alumni chose Lagos to mark their 40th anniversary, describing the gesture as welcome.

Earlier, the President of the 1985 set of the University of Lagos College of Medicine Alumni, Dr. Kofo Ogunyakin, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to giving back to their alma mater, describing the institution as the foundation of their professional excellence.
