Lagos Tourism Commissioner Showcases State’s Heritage Drive at EU Future Forum in Brussels
Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented Nigeria at the 4th Future Forum, the European Union’s flagship conference on diaspora engagement for development, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the ICMPD Brussels Mission, Belgium.
The global event, organized by the EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF), brought together policymakers, institutional partners, and development experts to exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and strengthen diaspora networks for sustainable growth.
During the Future Forum Capacity Development Lab – Institutional Partners Side Session, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka spotlighted the Lagos State Government’s commitment to leveraging tourism, creative arts, and entertainment as powerful tools for cultural preservation and economic advancement.
She emphasized that Lagos’ heritage and creative economy initiatives under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu are not only preserving the state’s rich cultural identity but also creating opportunities for global partnerships and investment.
