LAGOS STATE CIVIL SERVANTS RECEIVE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO BUILD WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC SERVICE
In a bold move to advance human capacity development and build a globally competitive public service, the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, in collaboration with the Rome Business School, Nigeria, has launched a two-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for civil servants. The training, held at the Marriot Hotel in Ikeja, aims to equip public servants with the skills needed to meet the evolving demands of modern governance.
Delivering his keynote address, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, highlighted the importance of the partnership with the Rome Business School. He stated that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to capacity building and is a bold step toward creating a public service that is “efficient, forward-thinking, and globally competitive.” Agoro emphasized that the training would provide civil servants with the tools to lead at the highest levels of government, with the goal of training professionals who are “globally informed yet locally effective.”
Agoro also urged participants to embrace the opportunity with open minds, network with peers, and translate the lessons learned into tangible results within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
In his address to the participants, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, emphasized that the initiative is a critical investment in the future of the state, noting that a dynamic and innovative civil service is the engine of progress for Lagos.
Sule further said that the collaboration reflects the state government’s commitment to building a public workforce that is both globally competitive and locally impactful.
Introducing the training objectives , the General Manager of Rome Business School Nigeria, Mr. Olakunle Asunmo said the training was designed to equip participants with practical experience and knowledge. According to him, the programme aims to sharpen decision-making skills, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery across various various segments of the Lagos state public service.
Asunmo said the training is a hands-on opportunity for professionals to upskill and apply real world solutions to their work, ultimately leading to improved performance and a greater impact in their respective fields.
The advanced leadership and policy management training was attended by middle level, management and principal officers in the civil service underscores the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, fostering a new generation of highly competent and effective public servants and leaders in Lagos state.
