Here & Hereafter Foundation Empowers Widows, Orphans with Over N10m in Scholarships and Support
The Here and Hereafter Foundation for Widows and Orphans has disbursed a total of ₦10,880,000 in scholarships and empowerment support for the 2025 edition of its annual awards, held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Alausa Secretariat Mosque.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of the Foundation, Alhaji Rasaq Asaaju, said the initiative was conceived by the Here & Hereafter Investment Company Limited in 2010 to bring succor to widows and orphans in the Muslim Ummah who often suffer neglect and hardship after losing their breadwinners.
According to him, the Foundation goes beyond providing financial assistance by also offering spiritual, psychological, social, and material support to help reintegrate bereaved families into society.
“Since inception, we have funded over 30 scholars and empowered more than 10 widows, investing over ₦40 million. For this year alone, we are spending ₦10,880,000. Alhamdulillah for this modest achievement and impact on the vulnerable and largely neglected segment of the Ummah,” Asaaju said.
He noted that three beneficiaries of the Foundation have graduated in fields including Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Security Studies, and Nursing, attributing the success to the generous support of donors.
Asaaju congratulated the new graduates while charging other beneficiaries at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels to take their studies seriously, warning that the Foundation would no longer extend sponsorship to underperforming students.
He also urged parents to support their wards diligently and encouraged widows who have received empowerment packages to maximize the opportunities so they could, in the future, become benefactors themselves.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees led by Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, with members including Alhaji Bade Adeshina, Prof. Tajudeen Yusuf (UNILAG), Ustadh Haroon Thani, Alhaji Dimeji Olona, and Barr. Nasir Salau.
Asaaju expressed gratitude to donors and supporters, praying that Allah would continue to bless them and uplift the beneficiaries.
