Igando-Ikotun LCDA Chairman Akinsanya Commences Rehabilitation of Drainages At AnuOluwapo Street
Residents of Anuoluwapo Street by Hotel bus stop can now have a sigh of relief as the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area moves to restore sanity on specific sections of the area.
The rehabilitation of Anuoluwapo street drainage under the administration of Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde is aimed at ameliorating the perennial flooding problem of the area.
Whenever it rains, the roads in the area are often flooded. This has created potholes on the roads making it difficult for commuters, pedestrians and businesses to operate smoothly.
Apart from this, it was also discovered that the drainage system in the area is totally out of tune with present reality, posing health and environmental risks to the people.
Thus, the drainage rehabilitation project aims to improve quality of life and economic activities in the area by providing a durable, functional and aesthetically pleasing road network and drainage system.
“The project involves the installation of new drainage pipes and channels, which are properly aligned and connected to the main drainage system. The drainage pipes and channels are also covered with concrete slabs to prevent littering and blockage,” the Council Chairman, Comrade Lasisi Akinsanya explained to journalists on Thursday, 18 September, 2025.
According to him, his administration is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises and delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents.
He expressed appreciation traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and the people of the council area for their support and cooperation which have proved invaluable in his desire to develop Igando-Ikotun LCDA.
