Abiru Tours Newly Completed Roads in Lagos East, Promises More Projects Before Year-End
The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Monday embarked on a tour of newly completed road projects facilitated through his office.
It was a moment of joy and gratitude as residents, community leaders, motorists, and other road users trooped out to give Senator Abiru a heroic reception, thanking him for intervening in long-neglected roads.
The completed roads include Ojokoro Road (Agric), Nurudeen Owolabi, Alogba (Lowa), Apena Jimbo, Jalajugbo, Ibu Owo, Agunfoye, Ojediran, and Andu/Oshikoya.
According to the Senator, work will also commence on several other projects before the end of the year. These include Soji Oshodi/Mutairu/Okeme Street in Pedro (Somolu/Bariga), Olulonyo-Ebuwawa Road in Agbede (Ikorodu North), Utuh Street in Akanimodo, Mile 12 (Agboyi Ketu), Ondo Street in Ajegunle (Agboyi Ketu), Otolu-Ilagbo in Lekki, Rala/Oshokeji Street in Ketu (Epe), GRA 2 Road in Alogba, and Dagbolu Road. Others include Sikiru Musa Road in Ibonwon (Eredo), Ojuemuren Road linking Ita-Oloja/Express Road in Ikorodu North LCDA, and Francis Okon Street, opposite B-Happy Hotel, linking Ijede Road to Ikorodu/Itoikin Highway. Second phases of Ojokoro Road and Agunfoye are also planned.
Speaking during the inspection, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development across the 16 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos East. He explained that the projects followed wide consultations with stakeholders to identify priority needs.
“They are about easing the burden of residents, opening up communities for economic prosperity, and ensuring that our people enjoy the dignity of living in decent environments. I am encouraged by the positive feedback, and even more determined to do more,” Abiru said.
Community leaders commended the Senator for his performance, describing the projects as a reflection of his transformative leadership.
A 92-year-old community elder, Alhaji Jimoh Folorunsho Alogba, expressed gratitude for the intervention. “We never thought we would see this road fixed in record time. Senator Abiru has given us hope that responsive leadership still exists,” he remarked.
Another resident, Mutiu Abiodun Banjo, lauded what he called the Senator’s “listening representation.” He noted, “We raised this matter not too long, and today, he is here to witness the timely completion of the work. This is the kind of leadership people want.”
Senator Abiru urged residents to take ownership of the infrastructure, stressing that community-driven maintenance was vital for sustainability.
Beyond road construction, Abiru has also touched lives through interventions in education, health, empowerment, and social support for vulnerable groups. Through his SAIL Empowerment Foundation, he has trained hundreds of young people in high-demand digital and tech skills, with many securing gainful employment.
The Lagos East Senator’s latest tour adds to his profile as a people-focused legislator who matches words with action. With more roads and projects lined up, residents say Abiru’s #DoingGood mantra is becoming a lived reality.
