Maulid Nabiyy – Beyond a Public Holiday
The Muslim Community of Lagos State (MCLS) felicitates with Muslims across Lagos and Nigeria on the occasion of Mawlid Nabiyy, the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
We wish to remind everyone that Maulid Nabiyy goes beyond the declaration of a public holiday. It is a call to action — a call to live by the values and teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
As a community, we emphasize:
* Emulating the Prophet (peace be upon him) in everything we do – by upholding truth, kindness, justice, and humility in our daily lives.
* Peaceful coexistence – respecting and working harmoniously with people of all faiths and backgrounds.
* Spreading peace in our state – ensuring Lagos remains a safe and united home for all.
Allah says:
“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often.” (Qur’an 33:21)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
On this noble occasion, we urge all Muslims to let the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) reflect in our conduct, so that our society will truly benefit from the mercy he brought to mankind.
