Ramadan: Senator Idiat Adebule Distributes 600 Bags of Rice to Muslim Clerics and Groups Across Lagos West
The Senator representing Lagos West District, Dr. Idiat Adebule, has distributed 600 bags of rice to Muslim clerics and other groups across the district.
Senator Adebule stated that the distribution was in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
“We are here today in the holy month of Ramadan to distribute food items in support of our compassionate and generous leader, President Tinubu, who has been working smart and hard to reposition Nigeria for greatness,” she said.
“As we all know, Ramadan is not only a period of fasting and righteous deeds, but also a time for charity from what Allah has provided for us. Therefore, in the spirit of Ramadan and in line with President Tinubu’s quest to ensure no Nigerian goes hungry, we are distributing these bags of rice to the Lagos West Muslim communities through our religious leaders.”
Senator Adebule acknowledged the economic challenges Nigerians are facing due to the government’s ongoing reforms, but assured that the situation is improving.
“President Tinubu recognises the difficulties caused by the economic adjustments necessary to correct unsustainable practices in our fledgling economy. In his usual compassionate nature, he has encouraged us, as representatives of the people, to continuously intervene with food palliatives to help the vulnerable among us navigate this period.
“However, we can all attest that our economy is gradually recovering—the Naira is stabilising, inflation is slowing down, and things can only get better as we continue to work hard and support the government at all levels.”
She also called on Islamic scholars (Ulamah) to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration.
The Chief Imam of Aranse Oluwa Central Mosque, Idi-Oro, Alhaji Abdulateef Alamutu, expressed gratitude to Senator Adebule for the gesture.
He commended her efforts in providing relief to the clerics and acknowledged the positive impact of her humanitarian outreach. He also offered prayers for President Tinubu and Senator Adebule.
In his lecture, the Mufti of the Ikeja Division Council of Chief Imams, Imam AbdRasaq AbdGaniy Akindele, described political office as a sacred trust from God, emphasizing that leaders will be held accountable for their actions.
“We are all leaders, and Allah will ask us about our followers. If you do good, you will reap it, and if otherwise, Allah will hold you accountable,” Imam Akindele stated.
He stressed the importance of leaders fulfilling their mandate, warning that failure to do so would result in divine scrutiny.
“If the followers are unable to question political office holders, they will surely be accountable to Allah,” he cautioned.
Imam Akindele also commended Senator Adebule for her efforts in supporting President Tinubu’s initiatives to provide relief to the people.
