MUSLIM COMMUNITY OF LAGOS STATE CALLS FOR UNITY, PRAYER, AND MAXIMIZATION OF RAMADAN’S BLESSINGS
As the blessed month of Ramadan begins, the Muslim community of Lagos State extends warm greetings to all Muslims in the state and beyond. This sacred period is an opportunity for spiritual renewal, increased devotion, and deep reflection. It is a time when the mercy, forgiveness, and blessings of Allah descend upon His servants, and we must strive to make the most of it.
Maximizing the Blessings of Ramadan
Allah (SWT) reminds us:
“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” (Qur’an 2:183)
Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink; it is a period of heightened spirituality, self-discipline, and acts of charity. We encourage all Muslims in Lagos State to engage in extra prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, seeking forgiveness, and giving to the less privileged. Let us not allow this month to pass without drawing closer to Allah and making positive changes in our lives.
Prayers for Lagos State and Its Leadership
We seize this opportunity to pray for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of Lagos State. May Allah grant wisdom and guidance to our leaders as they steer the affairs of the state toward greater development. The Qur’an teaches us:
“And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.” (Qur’an 2:186)
We, therefore, call upon all Muslims to make special supplications for the security, stability, and well-being of our dear state during this holy month.
Fostering Unity Among the Muslim Ummah
One of the greatest blessings of Ramadan is the spirit of unity it fosters among Muslims. We must not allow divisions to weaken us. Allah (SWT) commands:
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided…” (Qur’an 3:103)
We urge all Muslim organizations, leaders, and individuals across Lagos State to set aside differences and work together for the common good of the Ummah. Collaboration in da’wah, community development, and humanitarian efforts will strengthen our collective impact and bring about greater benefits.
Call for Charity and Social Responsibility
As we fast, let us also remember those who struggle to meet their daily needs. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“He who feeds a fasting person will have a reward equal to his, without any reduction in the reward of the fasting person.” (Tirmidhi)
We appeal to well-meaning individuals and organizations to support the needy, provide iftar meals, and extend kindness to those around them.
Ramadan is a precious gift, and we must embrace it with sincerity and devotion. Let us pray for ourselves, our families, our state, and our nation. May Allah (SWT) accept our acts of worship, grant us peace, and unite us upon goodness.
We wish all Muslims in Lagos State a blessed and rewarding Ramadan.
