Nigerians Urged to Demand Good Governance Through Constructive Engagement as ASGAT holds Pre-Ramadan Lecture

Nigerians have been urged to continuously demand good governance from those entrusted with the country’s leadership at all levels of government.

This call was made by Prof. Kabir Olawale Paramole at the Pre-Ramadan Lecture organized by the Lagos Chapter of the Al-Ulamau Solidarity Group for Accountability and Transparency (ASGAT)at the Folawiyo Central Mosque, Surulere, Lagos.

Speaking on “Changing the Dirty Game Narratives of Politics with Quranic Teachings,” Prof. Paramole reminded political leaders that they hold their positions in trust and will ultimately account for their stewardship before their Creator.

He, however, emphasized that the pursuit of good governance should not be confrontational but should be achieved through constructive dialogue that fosters mutual benefits.

The university don also urged Muslims to adequately prepare for this year’s Ramadan fast to maximize the spiritual rewards of the holy month.

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of ASGAT, Imam Abdulateef Agboola, stated that the group aims to partner with the government in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people. He noted that the Pre-Ramadan Lecture serves as a wake-up call for Muslims to fulfill one of the pillars of Islam, increase their consciousness of Allah, and extend kindness to others.

Special prayers were also offered for Allah’s guidance for national leaders to fulfill their campaign promises of good governance and economic recovery.
