LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES EKO DIGITAL SKILLS INITIATIVE 2024
The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, is set to launch the Eko Digital Skills Initiative 2024, a one-week free digital literacy and skilling program for youths in Lagos State.
According to the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, “The Eko Digital Skills Initiative 2024 is designed to equip over 5,000 young people in the state with the requisite digital skills by 2030, making them more employable and expanding their opportunities and capabilities.”
The program, which will kick off on December 2nd, 2024, will feature training in digital skills, entrepreneurial skills development, and core digital skills training using technology and tools in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
Sule emphasized that “the program is aimed at bridging the gap between the academic curriculum and the demands of the 21st-century workplace, and we are committed to sustaining the tempo of excellence in all state-owned institutions.”
Sule said further that the state government is building on the success of the Job Initiative Lagos, the Eko Digital Skills Initiative 2024 aims to broaden digital inclusion, granting out-of-school graduates, aspiring entrepreneurs, and vocational artisans access to digital literacy, personal growth, and job opportunities.
According to him”this initiative is a testament to the government’s dedication to driving community skills development and empowerment, ultimately contributing to the state’s economic growth and development”.
The Eko Digital Skills Initiative 2024 is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to drive community skills development and empowerment, and to position the state as a hub for digital innovation and excellence.
It is a strategic follow-up to the recently concluded Job Initiative Lagos programme designed to equip students in Lagos-based tertiary institutions with entrepreneurship, employability, and basic digital skills required for the workplace
