Patriotism Awareness Forum (PAF) Commends Nigerians For Keeping Faith With Democracy

The Patriotism Awareness Forum (PAF) has commended Nigerians for their resilience, perseverance, sacrifice, patience and understanding with the government on the economic challenges facing the Nigerian people which is being frontally addressed by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration within the last 14 months. The group asserted that such display of patience and understanding is what the country needs to weather the present challenges and make progress.

In a press statement issued in Lagos, the group commended President Bola Tinubu for his Presidential address of 4th August 2024 to the nation in which he itemized what his administration has been doing to alleviate the human condition of the Nigerians people since being sworn into office on May 29, 2023.

PAF also lauded Mr President for his fatherly appeal to Nigerians to keep the peace and join hands with his administration as it fashion out policies and programmes to address the myriad of our economic challenges for a better tomorrow which is in the horizon.

According to PAF, “We align with Mr President’s appeal to our youths and people to be vigilant and give room for dialogue by not allowing themselves to be used for politically motivated and anti-national security protest disguised as fighting for the economic well-being of Nigerians”. We are on the same page with the President on the need for Nigerians to patiently support the government to weather the present economic challenges and secure a better future for Nigerians.

“We commend the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their patriotism, professionalism and vigilance in ensuring that the protest of anarchy organized by faceless and unknown interests is not allowed to degenerate into the breakdown of law and order as orchestrated by the agents of destabilization and anarchy. We applaud the dexterity of the country’s security agencies in arresting the heinous intention of the sponsors of the protest to burn Nigeria, as was seen in Kenya and Bangladesh only recently.

However, PAF condemns the attack on a religious institution in Katsina state on Sunday 4th August 2024 and the carting away of valuables to the tune of millions of naira by these agents of anarchy who have become desperate and want to stoke a religious crisis by attacking the church because their plot of evil has been foiled by our gallant security agencies.

PAF equally condemns the faceless and unknown organizers of the protest of insurrection and anarchy for their threat and intimidation against traders in Plateau state to join the protest or be forced to by the invasion of their shops and markets. Based on their pedigree of violence, we are not going to take this threat lightly, as we call on the security agencies to beam special security searchlight on Plateau state and it’s neighbours, in order to prevent this criminals/protesters from carrying out their heinous acts.

As the unpopular and failed protest continues in very few states, despite Mr President appeal as well as admonition from Nigerians across ethnic and religious divide for a halt, to allow room for dialogue, PAF calls on the Nigerian government, people and the security agencies to remain alert and vigilant, because these agents of anarchy and destabilization will never give up on their anti people plots of violence, but by God’s grace, it will be an exercise in futility.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,

Nelson Ekujumi,
Convener

Peter Claver Oparah,
