Breaking News! Shock, Fear Grip Ikorodu Community as EFCC Storms Goodwill Private Schools, Whisks Away Principal and Staff
In an appalling turn of events, an eerie silence has engulfed Goodwill Private Schools Limited in Eyita Estate, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Earlier today, the tranquil school grounds transformed into a scene of chaos and confusion when individuals claiming to be officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the premises.
According to a statement e-signed by Otunba (Dr) Benson Enikuomehin, FCPA, Solicitor to the School, their mission was to seize the school’s respected Principal, Mrs. Olufemi-King Saidat Iyabode Abosede, and a dedicated staff member, Mr. Collins Success Omodekah.
The incursion, which took place in full view of the school’s young, impressionable students, has left the community in a state of shock and despair. Parents and teachers watched helplessly as these supposed EFCC operatives whisked away Mrs. Olufemi-King and Mr. Omodekah without presenting a warrant of arrest or offering any explanation for their actions.
The abruptness and aggression of the raid have disrupted the school’s activities, leaving an indelible mark on the students who witnessed the unsettling event. Images reminiscent of a similar raid in May, when students were diligently preparing for their external examinations, haunt the school corridors. The anguish and uncertainty now felt by the students and staff are palpable. The serenity of Goodwill Private Schools, known for its nurturing and safe environment, has been shattered.
The timing and manner of this invasion are both suspect and alarming. Goodwill Private Schools, its Proprietor, and Principal have always stood as pillars of integrity within the Ikorodu community. The institution prides itself on its commitment to the moral and academic development of its students. There is no record or evidence to suggest any involvement in criminal activities that would justify such a heavy-handed approach by the EFCC.
In a fervent plea for justice, we demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Olufemi-King Saidat Iyabode Abosede and Mr. Collins Success Omodekah. If there are any legitimate grounds for allegations against the school, its Proprietor, or its Principal, we urge the EFCC to follow due legal process and present their case in court, where the rule of law can prevail.
The Ikorodu community, students, parents, and staff of Goodwill Private Schools implore well-meaning Nigerians to speak out against this injustice. “We call on the EFCC Ikoyi branch to cease their harassment and uphold the principles of fairness and justice. The unwarranted and traumatic disruption of educational environments cannot and should not be tolerated.”

When contacted, EFCC spokesman Mr. Dele Oyewale said that the operatives visited the school following the removal of inscriptions indicating that the building was under investigation.
According to him, such action by the school was criminal, and the operatives returned to rewrite the inscriptions.
He also assured that those arrested would soon be released, adding that the arrest was to make them realize the gravity of the offense committed.
