The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency conducted a two-day community sensitization in Iwaya by continuing its mandate to end sexual and gender-based violence in the State.

Through its Community Engagement Team, the Agency organized a sensitization program in the rural part of Iwaya, Yaba Lagos amongst which includes the Makoko, Oko Agbon, Ajoke and it’s environs.

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos DSVA, emphasized the effectiveness of increasing grassroots awareness to address critical issues surrounding SGBV in the State. She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to disseminating the SGBV message throughout the State.

His Royal Majesty, the Olu of Iwaya, Oba Suleiman Owolabi, who facilitated this outreach, expressed his readiness to support the Agency and the State state in ensuring compliance with the law.

We were able to reach over 2,000 community members to provide enlightenment with the assistance of the Iwaya youth leader, Mr. Desmond.

In addition to general sensitizations, door-to-door engagement was conducted in various languages. SGBV informational materials were distributed, and participants were informed about the procedures for reporting cases. The toll-free line 0800-333-333 was shared.
