Vice President Kashim Shettima headlines UMA 29th Annual pre-Ramadan lecture

The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima will lead other prominent personalities to the 29th Annual pre-Ramadan lecture organised by the University of Lagos Muslim Ummah (UMA).

Among the guests expected include Deputy President-General (South), Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA)/President-General, Muslims in South Western Nigeria (MUSWEN)/ Chairman, Board of Trustees, UMA, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo and other personalities.

In a statement release by the Chairman, Organising Planning Committee, Abdul Fatah Bakare, event is slated for Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium, UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos, with the theme; “Economic Reforms for Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects for the Future.”

According to him, The guest speakers for the much awaited Pre-Ramadan lecture are the Chairman, Nigeria Economics Summit Group, Mr. Niyi Yussuf; Mudeer, Markaz Nurul Salaam, Gbede; Sheikh Dawud Alfanla Abdul Majeed-Eleha; Director, Executive Education and Consulting Nungu Business School; Dr. Jubril Salaudeen and Professor of Economics, Lagos State University, Prof. Jameelah Yaqub.

“The chairman of the occasion is the Principal and Founder, Yusuf O. Ali & Co, Ghalib Chamber, Prof. Yusuf Laolu Ali (SAN); Royal Father of the day is HRM, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota, Ogun State; Chief Host is the VIce Chancellor, UNILAG, Prof. Folashade Ogunsola (OON) and the Host is UMA President, Prof. Khalid Adekoya.”

The Chairman also disclosed that the event will begin by 9:00am (Nigerian time) with free medical screening, which has been a yearly practice of the Ummah, in preparing Muslims physically for the blessed month of Ramadan.

The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) was founded in 1985 with the purpose of promoting a fellowship of individuals who share a common religious interest.

Now in its 29th edition, the pre-Ramadan lecture is one of the activities of UMA and has served as a social, spiritual, and financial potpourri; offering a platform for the discussion of salient issues on nation-building and spiritual development of Muslims in Nigeria and the world.
