Ex-Director of At-Tanzeel Schools Urges FG to Conduct Comprehensive Study Before Implementing Student Loans
The federal government has been urged to carry out a comprehensive study before it begins the implementation of the Student’s loan scheme.
You will recall that President Bola Tinubu announced in a nationwide broadcast that the student’s loan scheme in which about five billion naira was initially allocated will commence in January 2024.
The immediate past Chairman Board of Directors of At-Tanzeel Schools, Abdul-Hameed Oladimeji Olona gave this charge while speaking at the Annual General meeting of At-Tanzeel Schools held at the school premises in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
He said the advise was borne out of the need to prevent diversion or abuse of the funds which had been the case in the past in the country.
According to him, the country will only attain desired development if it accords priority to the funding of education as the bedrock of the society.
Mr Abdul-Hameed Oladimeji Olona also assured of continued quality educational standards from the school adding that government must show sincerity of purpose in negotiating with ASUU to guarantee uninterrupted academic calendar in Nigeria.
He was of the view that the country deserves to have more University despite the arguments in some quarters that the proliferation of private schools was to send the public schools out of business.
According to him and I quote” The children must be able to have a choice whether to attend private or public. Both must be able to coexist side by side adding he was not sure if we have enough to meet the increasing demands”. End of quote
On his part, the new Chairman Board of Directors of the school, Mr Saheed Bashir said he was eager to share his vision centered around the transformation of education delivery to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
He pledged to cultivate an environment that fosters holistic development, where academic achievement harmoniously coexists with moral values and a profound sense of responsibility.

The new helmsman noted that information technology will assume a central role in their learning and teaching delivery saying they aspire to craft an immersive and interactive educational experience that transcends traditional methods.
While academic excellence remains non-negotiable, Saheed Bashir recognized that true success lies in the character of the students, promising that he will place a strong emphasis on instilling moral values and ethics.
Also of importance to the new Chairman is the focus on staff quality and welfare assuring to boost capacity in teaching, impacting knowledge, and managing the school.
Mr Bashir concluded saying stakeholder engagement is paramount for the success of any educational institution adding he will actively involve parents, teachers, students, and the broader community in the decision-making process. Collaboration will be the cornerstone of our success, and together, we will create an environment that nurtures the holistic development of each student.
