Aguda Uptown Unity Forum Seeks Partnership With Coker Aguda LCDA on Youth Empowerment, Poverty Reduction

The Chairman of the Aguda Uptown Unity Forum, Habeeb Babatunde Azeez, has expressed the forum’s readiness to collaborate with the Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on youth empowerment and poverty reduction initiatives.
He also attributed the peaceful coexistence among the various groups in the community to the effective use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Habeeb Babatunde Azeez made these remarks during the third edition of the Aguda Unity Walk, White Party, and Palliative Distribution held on Samuel Omotara Street in Coker Aguda LCDA, Surulere, Lagos.
He explained that the forum was established to curb various social vices, including drug abuse, thuggery, and other forms of unrest in the community.

According to him, Coker Aguda and its environs have enjoyed relative peace, harmony, and increased business activities since the initiative was launched a few years ago.
The chairman of the forum, while advocating for community policing, lamented that the area has only one functional public primary school. He noted that this places a financial burden on parents and exposes pupils to unnecessary risks.

Habeeb Babatunde Azeez further pointed out that Enitan Primary School was found to be in poor and unhygienic condition during the forum’s visit to distribute exercise books. He expressed confidence that the council chairman, Hon. Afeez Ogidan, would address the situation promptly.
He also disclosed that more than 50 widows in the community received palliatives comprising various food items donated by the Coker Aguda LCDA to ease their hardship and give them a sense of belonging.

Reflecting on the history of the popular Obasun community, Habeeb Babatunde Azeez explained that the name originated from the family that first settled on the land.
He also corrected the long standing misconception about the residents of the community, stressing that they are known for promoting justice and fairness for all.

The event concluded with musical performances by popular artistes and DJs, who entertained residents and participants, making the gathering a lively and memorable occasion with no dull moment.
