Senator Eshilokun Assures Inclusive Governance as Apapa Iganmu LCDA Inaugurates New Scribe, Advisers, Supervisory Councillors

Residents of Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area have been assured of an inclusive, transparent, accountable and people oriented government in the next four years under the current leadership of the council.

This assurance was given by Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun during the inauguration of the newly appointed Secretary to the Local Government, Special Advisers and Supervisory Councillors held at the Anago Council Secretariat in Badia, Apapa Iganmu LCDA.

The event, attended by political leaders, family members and friends of the appointees, also featured the presentation of official vehicles to the new officials by the Executive Chairman of the council, Jimoh Olawale Saliu, including the Vice Chairman, Chief Mrs. Fadeke Otitonaiye.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Eshilokun assured residents that the council would witness noticeable transformation, revealing that about 70 street lights are currently being installed to illuminate Apapa Iganmu and its environs.

According to him, the council’s 2026 budget is fully committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to residents across various sectors.

Also speaking at the event, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Musbau Lawal, advised the newly sworn in officials to remain mindful of the purpose of their appointments and to discharge their duties with the fear of God.

Lawal, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, further urged them to work as a team and avoid divisions that could lead to disunity within the council.

One of the leaders of the ruling party in Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Tunde Balogun, said the records of the council chairman’s performance within a short time in office are already evident.

He expressed satisfaction with the fairness in the selection of the Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers, noting that it was the first time that all interested stakeholders were duly considered for such appointments in the area.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman Jimoh Olawale Saliu charged the newly appointed officials to work closely with him in policy formulation and implementation aimed at advancing the progress of the council.

He stressed that the administration would not compromise the benchmark of quality service in assessing their performance.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Olanrewaju Ibraheem, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them.

He pledged that the appointees would serve the council diligently, carry out their responsibilities faithfully and follow laid down directives in the overall interest of residents.
