APC Guber Hopeful Samuel Mawuyon Ajose Hails Olatunji Disu’s Appointment as Acting IGP

Lagos State APC gubernatorial aspirant, Mr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has hailed the appointment of Olatunji Disu as acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) as a decisive step toward restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s policing system.

Ajose, an entrepreneur and development advocate from the Badagry Division, in a statement made available to our correspondent, lauded Disu’s exemplary career, noting that his tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos showcased his ability to build trust between the police and citizens.

“During the EndSARS protests, his measured response earned him respect from both the public and the media,” Ajose said.

The gubernatorial hopeful highlighted Disu’s strategic leadership in high-pressure roles, including as Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the FCT, and more recently as AIG of the FCID Annex, Alagbon.

Each position, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Levitikal Group, a company with interests in construction, luxury real estate, and infrastructure development, said, reflects “a career built on operational excellence, crisis management, and a commitment to institutional discipline.”

With Nigeria confronting complex security challenges, Ajose asserted that Disu’s appointment signals a shift toward intelligence-led policing, inter-agency collaboration, and the integration of modern technology in crime prevention.

“The Nigerian Police Force has long faced skepticism; Disu’s leadership presents a rare opportunity to redefine the institution’s relationship with citizens,” he said.

Ajose further stressed that the new IGP’s dedication to officer welfare, adherence to the rule of law, and citizen-focused policing will be crucial for building a more accountable and effective force.

“Disu’s rise is not just a personal achievement. It is a political and institutional statement that Nigeria is ready for leadership that combines discipline, strategy, and respect for its people,” the alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Harvard Business School, and the International Business School of Scandinavia added.

Mr. Ajose also thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him, which warranted his appointment at a time when the nation is facing security challenges.

He called for broad support for Mr. Disu to succeed in the onerous task of ensuring the nation’s safety and the protection of lives and property.
