By Raheem Ibrahim

The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has expressed sympathy with the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Emir and people of Kaima Emirate in Kwara North Senatorial District; and residents of the state over the brutal killing of innocent members of the community.

Reacting to the sad incident, Alhaji Abdulmalik, in a statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Dagbo, described the attack as one of the worst tragedies ever recorded in the state.

He said he received the news with profound sadness, noting that the Union is deeply concerned because any calamity that befalls a community in Kwara State affects all Kwarans. He attributed this to the long-standing historical ties and shared friendship between the Ilorin Emirate and other communities across the state, particularly those in Kwara North Senatorial District.

The IEDPU President, a retired Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, further stated that the incident, which he prayed would not reoccur, should serve as a wake-up call to security agencies in Kwara State and Nigeria at large to intensify efforts at tackling criminal activities before they are perpetrated.

Alhaji Abdulmalik also sympathised with the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Emir of Kaima, Alhaji Omar; the Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Alhaji Sulaiman Sadiq; and the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Salihu Danladi.

He implored security agencies to ensure that those responsible for killing and maiming innocent people are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, the IEDPU President described Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as a progressive and fair-minded leader in a separate congratulatory message marking the Governor’s 66th birthday, which falls on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Alhaji Abdulmalik noted that the Governor, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Sardauna of Ilorin, has been a blessing to the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State even before his election as Governor.

He recalled the Governor’s various interventions in support of the Ilorin Emirate and the Union, describing him as a patriot of exceptional value.

The IEDPU President prayed that Allah grants the Governor long life, good health, and a more rewarding tenure.
