DEATH OF ILORIN CHIEF IMAM: KWARA MURIC CONDOLES GOV, EMIR, FAMILY
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), at the National level and through its Kwara State Chapter, extends its deepest condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CON, the immediate family of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON; and the entire people of Ilorin Emirate on the painful loss of this revered Islamic scholar and spiritual leader.
The demise of Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih is not only a monumental loss to Ilorin Emirate but also to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah at large. He was a symbol of scholarship, humility, moderation, and steadfast commitment to the propagation of Islam.
Throughout his lifetime, the late Chief Imam distinguished himself as a bridge-builder, a moral compass for the community, and a custodian of Islamic values whose influence transcended Ilorin Emirate.
MURIC acknowledges with deep respect the announcement by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, regarding the Janazah prayer scheduled to be held at the Palace Square today, Tuesday, 20th January 2026. This further reflects the high esteem in which the late Chief Imam was held by the Emirate and the broader Muslim community.
We particularly commend the late Imam’s legacy of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, sound scholarship and unwavering service to Allah (the most high) and humanity. His teachings and exemplary lifestyle remain enduring lessons for present and future generations.
On behalf of our leadership and members nationwide and within Kwara State, MURIC prays that Allah (the most high), in His infinite mercy, forgives the shortcomings of Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, accepts his righteous deeds, grants him Jannatul Firdaus and comforts the Emir of Ilorin, the bereaved family, and the entire Ilorin community.
Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
