Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Holds 71st Jalsa Salana in Ogun, Calls for Unity, Peaceful Coexistence

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, has called on Muslims and Nigerians at large to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence, moral reformation and reliance on God as solutions to contemporary global and national challenges.

This call was made at the end of the 71st Jalsa Salana (Annual Conference) of the Jama’at, held from Friday, December 19 to Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Jamia Ahmadiyyah, Ilaro-Owode Road, Ilaro, Ogun State.

The three-day Islamic conference, themed “And Hold Fast, All Together, By The Rope of Allah And Be Not Divided…” (Qur’an 3:104), attracted 35,770 delegates from Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Equatorial Guinea. While thousands attended physically, others participated virtually via Jalsa Salana Connect TV. The event was held under the leadership of the Amir and Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez.

During the conference, six lectures were delivered by prominent scholars of the Jama’at. The main lecture on Saturday, titled “Unity is Strength: Lessons from Islamic History as a Guide to Current Global Challenges to Muslim Ummah,” was delivered by Professor Sa’eed Timehin. The final lecture, “Modern Day Evidence for the Existence of Allah,” was presented by Professor Mashhud Adenrele Fashola.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the conference, participants expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful hosting of the spiritually uplifting gathering, noting that it strengthened faith and renewed commitment to Islam, the Holy Qur’an, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Ghulam Ahmad (AS), and the institution of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya.

The conference reaffirmed that sincere reliance on Allah remains the ultimate solution to challenges such as insecurity, moral decline, injustice, economic hardship and environmental crises confronting humanity today. It emphasized that unity among Muslims is a divine command and a vital source of strength, progress and peaceful coexistence, warning that division weakens the Ummah and undermines its moral authority.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria also reiterated its unwavering commitment to peace, loyalty to Nigeria, obedience to lawful authority and constructive engagement with people of all faiths for national unity and development. This position was echoed by dignitaries at the event, including former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Ambassador Sarafadeen Ishola; Senator Olamilekan Adeola, represented by Alhaji Fadil Olaniyi Ajadi; and the former Grand Khadi of Kwara State, retired Justice S.O. Muhammad.

Participants were urged to serve as righteous role models for future generations by exemplifying piety, truthfulness, moral discipline and regular prayers, stressing that sustainable societal reform begins at home. The conference also called for a revival of prayer, sincere supplication and righteous conduct as tools for individual and societal transformation.

Lessons were drawn from the sacrifices and exemplary lives of notable figures such as Hazrat Sir Zafrullah Khan Sahib and Hazrat Syeda Nawab Mubaarakah Begum (RA), who were described as enduring models of selflessness, steadfast faith and service to humanity. Members were reminded that sacrifices of time, wealth and abilities in the way of Allah are essential for spiritual growth and community progress.

The communiqué further noted that modern scientific discoveries, fulfilled prophecies, personal spiritual experiences and the order of the universe continue to provide compelling evidence of the existence and power of Almighty Allah.

The conference concluded with a call on Muslims, particularly members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, to firmly hold fast to the rope of Allah through obedience to His commandments, loyalty to Khilafat, mutual love and the rejection of extremism, hatred and division.

Several dignitaries, traditional rulers and religious leaders attended the conference, including the Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Dr. Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle; Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola; representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria; leading Islamic scholars; heads of tertiary institutions; traditional rulers from Ogun, Osun and Kwara states; security officials; and delegates from Equatorial Guinea and the United Kingdom.
