LAGOS DSVA HOLDS ONE DAY ENGAGEMENT OF ONILE ‘OMO EBI’ UNDER IKORODU NORTH LCDA
The continuous efforts of Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to kick out SGBV out of Lagos, and ensuring no sector is left behind has prompted the engagement of OMO ONILE regarded as ‘OMO EBI’ under the Ikorodu North Local Government Development Area on the 4th of November, 2024.
Speaking at the program, the Representative of the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Ms. Adetoun Odumbo, a Community Engagement Officer of the DSVA spoke on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), it’s various forms, the importance of consent, importance of speaking up, the need to look out for children, so, as not to fall prey of sexual molesters, the support services and the need to report through our official toll free line, 08000333333.
She said this would be the first Onile Omo Ebi engagement and stressed that three other similar events would be held at other carefully selected areas in the State, while the next would be held at Mushin.
Also at the event, Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, HOD of Field Operations, spoke on the legal consequences of involvement in SGBV and emphasized on the fact that, offenders will face the rot of the law.
She also spoke on the role of ‘OMO EBI’ in combating SGBV and the need for them to know that they are collaborators in the fight against SGBV as the initiative aims to propagate the SGBV message in the State with an expected reach of 5000 residents at each community.
At the event, ‘Baales’ of communities were present at the event and they included, Chief Taiwo Okeowo – Baale Eyin Ogbe, Chief Adeniyi Anifowose – Baale Aiyetoro, Chief Sikiru Ajasa – Baale Idefa Oloipa, Chief Mushafau – Baale Igbege Akayen, Chief Kazeem Olawole Sanni- Olootu Olufowosin, Chief Jimoh Olofin – Baale Igboji Olorunda, Chief Olanipekun Musiliu Adeshina – Baale Olorunda Olonora, Chief Seun Aleshiloye, representing Baale Akaun Leshagbu, Mr. Sikiru Adebeju, representing Baale Elijim.
Mr. Olawuyi Ajala on behalf of the Community appreciated the Lagos State Government for availing the initiative to the community.
