Residents of Coker-Aguda, Ijesha, Sanya, and surrounding areas embarked on a peaceful protest to the Sanya and Akangba EKEDC offices, opposing their unauthorised migration to Band A.<\/p>\n

Under the aegis of Aguda United, residents of these areas protested what they called an unauthorised shift to Band A.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the protest, the group’s leaders, Femi Said and Andrew Biosah, demanded an immediate reversal to Band B. <\/span><\/p>\n

They also called for a refund of the bills paid to EKEDC since July 1st, when the area was moved to Band A without their consent.<\/span><\/p>\n

The leadership thanked all the residents who came out en masse for their peaceful conduct during the protest.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to them, they remain resolute in ensuring that all their demands are met, noting that the law stipulates that residential areas should not be on Band A, which is designated for industrial zones.<\/span><\/p>\n

They insisted that their protest would continue with a “no retreat, no surrender” stance, adding that the current electricity tariffs have now exceeded house rent.<\/span><\/p>\n

In response, the Commercial Manager of the Orile District at EKEDC, Sunday Babalola, explained that the migration to all bands was managed by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). <\/span><\/p>\n
