It was accolades galore at the weekend for the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (SSAP-TVEE), Madam Abiola Arogundade, as the UNLOCK <\/span>Training <\/span>Programme<\/span>final<\/span>l<\/span>y <\/span>end<\/span>ed with a flourish<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme, which began in early March with a six-week Campaign during which Nigerian youths with skills were tasked to record a one-minute video of such skills, their future plans to develop them<\/span> and how <\/span>government could help them <\/span>in<\/span> realiz<\/span>ing<\/span> their plans<\/span>, graduated into a ten-day physical and online training for shortlisted candidates on how to write a business plan, ending with the shortlisting of 120 best Business Plan writers who would each win N500,000 grant, among other benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the<\/span> grand<\/span> Graduation\/Awards ceremony, which took place at the Office of the SSAP-TVEE in Abuja<\/span> to celebrate the end of the programme<\/span>, a total of 200 people, <\/span>comprising 120<\/span> of those who participated in the tr<\/span>aining programme and submitted <\/span>Business Plan<\/span>s<\/span> and ent<\/span>repreneurs being honoured for t<\/span>heir promotion of <\/span>TVET in the country<\/span>, received a t<\/span>otal of N100 million grants with some also going home with Solar Kiosks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Showering the accolades on the SSAP-TVEE were distinguished guests who graced the grand occasion. They included the <\/span>Hon<\/span>.<\/span> Minister of <\/span>Women Affairs, Hon. Uju Kennedy-Ohaneny<\/span>e, <\/span>Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Students\u2019 Loans and Tertiary Education, Hon. Adegboyega Nasir Isiaka, <\/span>Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. <\/span>Bayo<\/span> On<\/span>a<\/span>nuga<\/span>, <\/span>Hon. Minister of <\/span>State for E<\/span>ducation, Hon. Yusuf Sununu<\/span> and <\/span>Hon. Minister of State for Youth Development<\/span>, Hon. Ayodele <\/span>Olawande, among numerous o<\/span>th<\/span>ers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his goodwill message at the occasion, Hon. <\/span>Isiaka<\/span>described Madam <\/span>Arogundade<\/span> as<\/span> a<\/span> woman with incredible zeal<\/span>, intelligence and drive saying in his various interactions with her he has found her to be committed in the drive to promote technical and vocational education among the youths in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee \u00a0Chairman, who also described the<\/span> SSA-TVEE as a great networker, <\/span>said his joining the House <\/span>about a<\/span> year ago coincided with <\/span>the appointment <\/span>of Madam Arogundade, adding<\/span> \u201cWhen I met her, I met a woman with incredible zeal, incredible intelligence, incredible drive and we started working together and sharing materials\u201d, a<\/span>dding that she was also a great networker<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also speaking in the same vein while delivering her goodwill message, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Uju Kennedy-<\/span>Ohanenye<\/span>, described Madam <\/span>Arogundade<\/span>as <\/span>an outstanding woman<\/span> who has the passion to uplift the poor and the less privileged in the society.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister, who was obviously e<\/span>lated<\/span> at the occasion declared, \u201cShe has<\/span> shown us that<\/span> she is<\/span> a mother, she thought about the less priv<\/span>ileged people<\/span>, she though<\/span>t about the suffering masses\u201d, <\/span>then turning to the TVEE boss she said, \u201c<\/span>You have really h<\/span>ee<\/span>d the voice of the President and uplifted the poor to allow them to breathe. I am very proud of you. You have done well my darling<\/span>\u201d<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his own goodwill message, the Minister of State for Education, Hon<\/span>. Yusuf \u00a0Sununu, emphasized on the need for integrity and trust in the affairs of governance pointing out th<\/span>at<\/span> Madam <\/span>Arogundade<\/span> had demonstrated both by keeping her promise she made to the participants of the UNLOCK Training programme. \u201cI join the others to congratulate Madam Abiola for promise fulfilled\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Others who gave goodwill messages <\/span>and testimonies <\/span>at the occasion<\/span> included Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. <\/span>Bayo<\/span> On<\/span>a<\/span>nuga<\/span>, and Hon. Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele <\/span>Olawande, as well as <\/span>well as participants all o<\/span>f who<\/span>m<\/span>extolled the commitment of the SSAP-TVEE to TVET development in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, in her welcome address, Mad<\/span>am Arogundade explained that the 120 beneficiaries of the grant were <\/span>\u201cF<\/span>reshers<\/span>\u201d<\/span> while the 80 awardees were those already in business who needed support to boost their businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recalling the several processes that led to the Graduation\/Award ceremony, the SSAP-TVEE said aside the grants and the Solar Kiosks, the Participants were given NBTE approved Certificate of Completion<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
