It was an atmosphere of joy and excitement as sons and daughters of Odoragbushin converged to celebrate this year’s Ebi Kilajolu Festival in Odoragbushin in Eredo LCDA, Epe area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere was electrifying, providing room for the age-old tradition and culture of the area to take center stage.<\/p>\n

The Kilajolu festival is marked every Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n

One of the main purposes of the festival is to offer prayers for both the old and young, as well as to cleanse and purify the land and its people.<\/p>\n

It is believed that after the festival, the area will witness socio-economic turnaround.<\/p>\n

A unique feature of the Kilajolu Festival is the willingness of the indigenes to undergo flogging, symbolizing the expulsion of their problems to make room for blessings.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent reports that some Masquerades later displayed special dancing skills to the delight of guests and tourists who graced the occasion.<\/p>\n

Speaking further on the Kilajolu Festival, Moshood Babatunde, an indigene and youth leader in the area, said that the prayers offered were specifically to ward off evils in the land.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that the event was also to appreciate God for sparing their lives and for the economic prosperity of the area.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the youth, Moshood Babatunde expressed gratitude to Prince Adetomiwa Odutuga for the financial support in ensuring the success of the festival.<\/p>\n

He also solicited the support and prayers of residents to ensure that Prince Odutuga becomes the King in Odoragbushin, in order to attract more development to the area.<\/p>\n

The youth leader commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his strides in infrastructural development and urged him to fast-track the approval of their unanimous and preferred choice as the King in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
