The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mr Lanre Issa Onilu has been given clarification on the core mandate of the Agency.<\/p>\n
He also said that the impression in some quarters that the Agency is not living up to expectations is not true saying Nigerians do not understand its assigned roles and functions.<\/p>\n
The DG of NOA made this clarification in Lagos during the interractive session with the Media Executives led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.<\/p>\n
He explained that the duty of the National Orientation Agency is to educate the public on government policies and programmes.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Agency had done a lot of campaigns and interventions in terms of a peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.<\/p>\n
Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu disclosed that since assumption of office, he had visited ten states of the federation to create awareness on policies of the Tinubu led government.<\/p>\n
He noted that he met committed staff in the National Orientation Agency adding they were in the processs of increasing offices in 774 Local Government Areas in the country.<\/p>\n
Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu further said that the committe on National Value Charter had submitted its report to the Minister of Information and waiting for formal launching by the President.<\/p>\n
He said that they have established 37,000 citizens Brigade in schools to suport by government campaign in nurturing citizens on core national values.<\/p>\n
The NOA Director General expressed worry over high level of exposure to foreign contents by young Nigerians which he said could have undue influence on their attitude to national life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
