{"id":5742,"date":"2024-02-14T05:28:50","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T05:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=5742"},"modified":"2024-02-14T05:28:50","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T05:28:50","slug":"ministry-of-industry-partners-nidcom-to-boost-diaspora-investment-in-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2024\/02\/14\/ministry-of-industry-partners-nidcom-to-boost-diaspora-investment-in-nigeria\/","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Industry Partners NiDCOM to Boost Diaspora Investment in Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite has expressed the need to work with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) to boost diaspora investments in the Country.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press statement e-signed by the Abdur-Rahman Balogun,<br \/>\nDirector of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, (NiDCOM), the Minister said she will create a full department called \u201cCatalytic Investment Unit\u201d in the Ministry to accommodate all diaspora-related matters, during her courtesy visit to the CEO NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-21463\" src=\"https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032-1024x582.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032-1024x582.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032-768x436.jpg 768w, https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032-1536x873.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/regentafricatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG-20240213-WA0032.jpg 1600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"364\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Minister commended NiDCOM for partnering with the private sector to organize the Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit (NDSI), which she said has provided a platform for Nigerians who want to invest.<\/p>\n<p>She said the Ministry would synergize with NiDCOM and NDSI to make the summit even stronger, in line with the Ministry\u2019s investment initiatives and policies.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said, \u201cI have been charged by Mr President to look for inward investment into the country. NiDCOM has saved me from starting from scratch. We will build on your platform and work together\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Uzoka-Anite described the Diaspora as a great potential for investment who are passionate about their country and willing to invest without too many conditions or demands.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister added that the ministry can support Diaspora Investment by designing and creating different investment channels, negotiating long-term investment opportunities, proposing the removal of taxes on dividends providing extra security arrangements for Diaspora investment and even working together to push bills to be sponsored by the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa had called for more synergy between the Commission and the Ministry to enhance Diaspora Direct Investment.<\/p>\n<p>The NiDCOM boss used the opportunity to brief the Minister on the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) which had been hosted in Abuja six times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have some requests which include creating incentives for the Diaspora coming back home to invest, partnering to implement the Diaspora Investment Trust Fund, and establishing a Diaspora Desk in the Ministry\u201d Dabiri-Erewa said.<\/p>\n<p>In attendance were the duo of Amb. Bolaji Akinremi, Director of Trade and Investment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Amb.
