Residents of Surulere area of Lagos have been assured of safety of their lives and property during the forthcoming bye-election in the area.<\/p>\n
They were also urged to be peaceful across party lines during the February 3rd Surulere Federal Constituency I bye-election promising that the exercise would be transparent and their votes will count.<\/p>\n
INEC Resident Electorral Commissioner for Lagos, Prof Abayomi Salami stated these at the stakeholders meeting held at the headquarters in Yaba area of the state.<\/p>\n
Twelve political parties have indicated interest to participate in the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye-Election.<\/p>\n
While speaking at the forum, Prof Ayobami Salami, said that the commission was ready to conduct transparent and credible election without neglecting the rules.<\/p>\n
Representatives of political parties that attended the meeting, some candidates, and other stakeholders charged INEC to ensure a successful electoral process that will be acceptable by all.<\/p>\n
They also stressed the need for early arrival of election materials at various polling units and maximum security that will encourage eligible voters to exercise their franchise.<\/p>\n
Leading candidates in the bye-election following the resignation of former Speaker, Rt.Hon Femi Gbajabiamila for the position of Chief of Staff to the President include; Fuad Lagida of the APC, Labour Party. Adeola Adebanjo and PDP Jerry Efemikhe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
