{"id":4928,"date":"2023-12-27T09:57:39","date_gmt":"2023-12-27T09:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=4928"},"modified":"2023-12-27T09:58:53","modified_gmt":"2023-12-27T09:58:53","slug":"just-in-governor-rotimi-akeredolu-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2023\/12\/27\/just-in-governor-rotimi-akeredolu-is-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Is Dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Governor of Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, Rotimi Akeredolu is dead.<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gayekeepersnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Gatekeepers News<\/b><\/a> reports that the Presidency confirmed Akeredolu\u2019s demise and an official statement will be released soon.<\/p>\n<p>Akeredolu, who became the Governor of Ondo in 2017, had announced his decision to embark on a medical leave on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, as a follow-up to his treatment and also handed over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.<\/p>\n<p>Aiyedatiwa will be sworn-in as the Governor following the death of Akeredolu.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased had previously embarked on three-month medical leave in Germany and returned to Nigeria to Nigeria on September 7.<\/p>\n<p>After his return, he worked from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, a working scenario that led to a political crisis in the State as Akeredolu\u2019s loyalists clashed with his deputy.<\/p>\n<p>There were also attempts to impeach the deputy Governor before and after Akeredolu\u2019s return to Nigeria at that time before the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>Also, there were claims that Akeredolu\u2019s signature was forged on official documents due to his absence at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Born on 21 July 1956, Akeredolu was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and president of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, Rotimi Akeredolu is dead.
