In a proactive move to<\/span><\/span> elevate and<\/span><\/span> en<\/span><\/span>hance healthcare services, the Mandate Secretary, Health services and Environment Secretariat<\/span><\/span>, Dr Dolapo Fasawe undertook<\/span><\/span> an on-s<\/span><\/span>pot assessment of <\/span><\/span>the 14 general \/ <\/span><\/span>district<\/span><\/span> hospitals <\/span><\/span>in the <\/span><\/span>FCTA so as to promote effective service <\/span><\/span>delivery in line with world best practices.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Fasawe who was accompanied by the Actg. Director General,<\/span><\/span>Hospital Management Board,<\/span><\/span> Dr Olugbenga Bello and other top echelon of the secretariat disclosed that the <\/span><\/span>initiative aims to evaluate the current state of<\/span><\/span> all<\/span><\/span> healthcare facilities, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare to the public<\/span><\/span> in line with the renew hope agenda of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the tour<\/span><\/span>, the<\/span><\/span> Mandate Secretary<\/span><\/span> interacted with <\/span><\/span>all <\/span><\/span>healthcare professionals, inspected <\/span><\/span>the facilities, <\/span><\/span>reviewed operational procedures<\/span><\/span> and identified<\/span><\/span> challenges for prompt interventions<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>According to her<\/span><\/span>, the visit <\/span><\/span>reflects the commitment of <\/span><\/span>government to<\/span><\/span> foster<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span> a healthcare system that meets the evolving needs of the community.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“This<\/span><\/span> on-spot assessment visits<\/span><\/span> was at the directive of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nysom Wike <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>crucial<\/span><\/span> in our ongoing efforts to strengthen public healthcare<\/span><\/span> in the FCTA<\/span><\/span>. We are focused on identifying challenges, implementing necessary reforms, and ensuring that citizens<\/span><\/span> receive the best possible care<\/span><\/span> available at all times<\/span><\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>There is <\/span><\/span>need for quick interventions in areas such as facility infrastructure, <\/span><\/span>human capacity, <\/span><\/span>medical equipment, staffing, and <\/span><\/span>standardization of operations\u201d<\/span><\/span>. Stated the Manda<\/span><\/span>te Secretary.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Secretary expressed appreciation for the dedication of healthcare workers and assured continued supp<\/span><\/span>ort for their tireless efforts. She reaffirmed<\/span><\/span> the government’s commitment to fostering a robust healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of citizens<\/span><\/span>and health family<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Adding that <\/span><\/span>Future initiatives and reforms will be guided b<\/span><\/span>y the insights gained from the visit, while<\/span><\/span> appealing to the public to desist from attacking health workers <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>assuring the<\/span><\/span>m <\/span><\/span>of the commitment of the administration to bequeath to them a <\/span><\/span>responsive and eff<\/span><\/span>icient healthcare system<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first phase of the visit took th<\/span><\/span>e team to Rubochi, Kwali, Abaji, Zuba, BWari and kubwa general hospitals while the second phase to the remaining eight (8) hospitals<\/span><\/span> would be done next year. 14 general and district hospitals are under the supervision of the health and environment secretariat,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
