{"id":3964,"date":"2023-10-31T09:54:57","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T09:54:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=3964"},"modified":"2023-10-31T09:54:57","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T09:54:57","slug":"fbi-cia-reject-request-for-tinubus-records-says-he-has-privacy-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2023\/10\/31\/fbi-cia-reject-request-for-tinubus-records-says-he-has-privacy-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"FBI, CIA Reject Request For Tinubu\u2019s Records, Says He Has Privacy Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have declined request to make information about President Bola Tinubu public.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The two US agencies said Tinubu has \u201cprivacy rights that should be considered\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Responding to a motion by Aaron Greenspan, an American who is seeking a reconsideration of an ealier ruling, the law enforcement agencies said the plaintiff is merely seeking to reargue his position on which the court has already ruled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The agencies asked the court to deny the plaintiff\u2019s motion for reconsideration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Court properly characterized that motion as a motion for a temporary restraining order and determined that plaintiff did not satisfy his burden of showing that he would succeed on the merits as to FOIA exemptions and irreparable injury is likely, and the balance of equities favor him or granting the motion would further the public interest because Tinubu has privacy interests that should be considered,\u201d the agencies said in their response to Greenspan\u2019s motion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The development comes after the US court for the district of Columbia\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecable.ng\/us-court-declines-request-on-release-of-tinubus-personal-records-by-fbi-cia\/amp\"><span class=\"s1\">rejected<\/span><\/a> an emergency request by Greenspan on the release of the confidential information about Tinubu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Greenspan, in the application had sought to compel the FBI, CIA, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS), to hasten the release of Tinubu\u2019s dossier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Declining the request, Beryl Howell, the district judge, had said Greenspan did not meet the preconditions for granting a request of that nature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The judge said the request \u201cmay be of a highly sensitive and private nature\u201d and that \u201cthe subject of those documents, Bola A.
