{"id":3698,"date":"2023-10-16T18:35:34","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T18:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=3698"},"modified":"2023-10-16T18:35:34","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T18:35:34","slug":"fec-approves-1-5bn-80m-loan-from-world-bank-afdb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2023\/10\/16\/fec-approves-1-5bn-80m-loan-from-world-bank-afdb\/","title":{"rendered":"FEC Approves $1.5bn, $80m Loan From World Bank, AfDB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wale Edun, the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, says the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a $1.58 billion loan request.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Edun said the loan request is split into two; $1.5 billion from the World Bank and $80 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The minister revealed the approval after the FEC meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He told the state house correspondents that the $1.5 billion from the World Bank would be applied through the International Development Association (IDA) \u2013 an arm of the Bretton Woods institution, which provides free or zero-interest loans to low-income countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cWe also approved today the application for financing from the World Bank. And in particular, the International Development Association which is really the virtually free or zero interest lending arm or financing arm of the World Bank,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThe total is $1.5 billion.
